The valuable message of a Buddhist parable "The world will not fight against you if you do not fight against the world."

Fonte CONTIOUTRA

"What is the reason why the mind of only a few people being quiet and the majority not getting a quiet mind? What do you need to do to have a more peaceful mind?”

A disciple and his teacher walked through the woods. The disciple was disturbed that he realized that his mind was restless. He was concerned that he would be able to achieve enlightenment.

However, he was ashamed to admit it. So, he asked his teacher a question.

“What is the reason for the mind that only a few people are quiet and the majority cannot get a quiet mind? What do you need to do to have a peaceful mind? ”

The master looked at the disciple, smiled and said:

“I will tell you a story. An elephant was standing, picking leaves a tree. A small bee flew and buzzed close to his ear. The elephant chased the bee away with its ears, but the bee returned. The elephant came back again, moving its ears.

The situation was repeated several times. Then the elephant very angry with the bee, asked. "Why are you so restless and making so much noise, why can't you keep me quiet and stop chasing me?"

The bee answered him.

“I am very sensitive to some smells, sudden movements and vibrations. I cannot do anything to prevent this, as this indicates a danger of attack for our hive and stimulates our defensive system. You are the one who is threatening me, if you stay quiet, I will be too. ”

In this parable, said the Master, the elephant is our mind and the bee is our thoughts. In many cases, we do like the elephant. We have attitudes that arouse anxiety and take us out of the state of tranquility.
